Joe Hong, MD is a physician specializing in general adult and geriatric psychiatry. Dr. Hong has worked with a diverse range of patients from various backgrounds in correctional facilities, medical centers, and through telehealth organizations. He is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and board-certified in Geriatric Psychiatry.
Dr. Hong completed his medical degree at St. George University before becoming a psychiatry resident at New York Medical College where he worked at the Metropolitan Hospital. He completed his fellowship program at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital through UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine as a Geriatric Psychiatry Fellow. He has been practicing medicine since 2015.
In addition to his certifications as a psychiatrist, he is certified in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) by the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and in psychodynamic therapy by New York Medical College Psychoanalytic Institute. He received New York Medical College’s Excellence in Clinical Neurology Award while completing residency there. Dr. Hong’s work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Addiction Medicine and the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology. Further, he has helped conduct Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) studies researching MDMA-assisted psychotherapy.
